My 2 new SS Officer caps

These look like the ones that George Petersen pulled out of the Czech film works many years ago. Nice pieces.

Hello Sebas. I have have 2 hats that are very similar. Mine have the insignia replaced. From what I understand most of the original batch that came out in the '70's should all be the same way. Any hats like these that have cloth liners and not the shinny silver like material like ours are fake. Most of the hats had their insignia replaced and only a few came with original insignia. When these caps came out no one believed the existed due to the lack of photographic evidence of Italian material being used in SS hats. Later when the collecting community accepted these hats they began to made troves, Especially in the 80's and 90's. I have been told that the ones in the 90's have had the Statni added and then marked over just like the originals!!!!

Hello, The one cap I have has 2 buttons in the front and when I purchased it. It has a trapezoid insignia. The other one is very much like yours with one button. I elected to restore it with a similarly worn metal skull. It would be too hard to find am original officers grade eagle and skull in cloth. Your restoration looks great! good job. I will try to get some pics of all my hats someday. I have had them in storage for a while. With all of the forums out there I decided recently to look them over again. I found out that 1 is fake and probably another. Now I am down to 6, maybe 7 original m43's. What other types of SS stuff do you have? The original picture I saw was in a book. I do not remember which one and it has been a few years now. It was at least 15 years ago. Been collecting for 25 years now. Jim
