Re: Waffen SS 43 Model cap
Here are some M1943 field caps that belong to Willi Schumacher:
Waffen-SS Officer Black Panzer Field Cap with aluminum wire piping and enlisted 2-piece insignia
Waffen-SS Officer Field Cap with edelweiss on the side. This cap is stenciled with RBnumber, dated 1944 and size. The insignia on the front is cut out bevo which is then sewn to a gray-green wool trapezoid backing
Waffen-SS Officer Field Cap with the aluminum wire piping missing. Bevo skull on the front, twin silver pebbled metal buttons, and machine-woven eagle on the side

Re: Waffen SS 43 Model cap
Well, let me see:
How about these:
Waffen-SS Enlisted Black Panzer Field Cap with twin black painted metal buttons and machine-woven trapezoid insignia
Waffen-SS Officer Field Cap tailor made in Leipzig with the white soutache material used for officer piping. Aluminum machine-woven eagle on the side
Waffen-SS Officer Field Cap with aluminum machine-woven insignia and aluminum wire piping
Waffen-SS Camouflaged Field Cap with Camouflaged Insignia (Autumn side). One of 5 known originals in the world, this came out of the Red Army Artillery Museum in St. Petersburg and has two museum property tags, the one from the Red Army Museum in Moscow having the original capture information included. This is in unissued condition and was captured at a depot in Estonia in November/December 1944.
Waffen-SS Camouflaged Field Cap with Camouflaged Insignia (Summer side). Same cap as above but turned inside out (actually the green side was the primary exterior on all camouflaged garments).
Close up of a camouflaged skull in the green colors. Out of the four pieces of Waffen-SS camouflaged cap insignia, this is the most common; however, it is very difficult to find and currently costing about $2,000. The green eagle and the autumn camouflaged insignia is almost impossible to find.
Waffen-SS Enlisted Tropical Field Cap. This is a Kriegsmarine field cap manufactured by Heinrich Balke in Bremen in 1941/42 and has the light-blue interior and the false ear muffs. The SS tropical insignia is the only insignia that has been on this cap.
All items shown are in the collection of my friend, Willi Schumacher, although most of the pictures are mine.

Re: Waffen SS 43 Model cap
Bob, forget about the other caps.... the M-42 with camouflage insignia IS A BEAUTY and one of the rarest caps you can find. I would love to have it in my collection together with my other M-42s
Best regards, Tom

Re: Waffen SS 43 Model cap
Definitely a problem with 'supply and demand'... with only 5 known originals in the world with insignia on both sides like this. I love to see it every time I go up north and visit Willi. I spend an entire weekend in his closets and then around Sunday evening he shows me out the front door!
